Today’s email interview is of Lilian aka 5xmom who runs a blog network but most probably will be better known for blogging at http://chanlilian.net and http://5xmom.com.
1.You’ve used MT and Blogger, why the switch to WordPress?
I started with Blogger and then, got my own domain sometime in early 2004. At that time MT was more popular than WP. However, MT doesn’t provide plugins to stop those spams and their dashboard is very confusing with all those funny terms. I was lucky that PaulTan who was then, my webhost installed one WordPress blog for me to try out. I immediately like the easy to manage dashboard and have been hooked to WP since then.
2.How many blogs do you have that are powered by WP?
Over a dozen. Some of the are regular blogs that I update everyday. Some of them are sites I put up for information purposes and some are static sites.
3.What is your main blog about?
Making Money. Well, 5xmom is like a brandname now and I bought 5xmom.com as keepsake. Since I have a personal blog with my name chanlilian.net, I decided to share my money making tips.
4.What programs/services do you use to monetize your blogs?
1) PayPerPost
2) Text Link Ads
3) Google Adsense
4) ReviewMe
5) Direct, local ads (banner placement)
6) Other ‘get paid to blog’ programmes
I have no luck with Commission Junction or Amazon.
5.Have you contributed anything to the WP community?
(themes/plugins/articles/etc)
Not really because I do not have the technical knowledge but I love to encourage bloggers with potential to get their own domain and blog from WP.
6. What are your top 5 favourite WP plugins?

Of course, those spam filters are the top priority.
7.If WP suddenly ceased to be free and moved on to be a paid
script..would you still use it?
Yes. I do contribute by way of donation to some plugins that helped me to increase my income. It is only right to support these individuals with money we earned if the WP or plugins have helped.
8.Name a few blogs that you read often and are WP powered.
I am afraid that I am very distracted and do not read that regularly. But yeah, I do follow all those blogs feeds I found on my WP Dashboard. My favourite is Lorelle

Basically my selection of bloggers to interview mainly boils down to what powers their blog, if they are using WordPress than odds are they will be interviewed one day or another, I’m always on the lookout for bloggers to interview so if your a WordPress user please join my community and chances are you might be next on the interview list.
