Alright, i’m finally releasing my current theme, it’s my 13th theme (lucky 13?) and i think it’s so far the best theme i’ve ever release.I must say a big thank you to my friend Richie K who coded this theme and you will see in your theme admin panel that alot of work went into it.This theme is also released in conjuction with this blog’s 1st annivesary, I can’t believed how time flew away so fast!.
Blog, Magazine & List
This is actually a 3-in-1 theme where you will be able to select you layout of choice from your theme admin panel, the choices are a (normal) blog layout, a Magazine styled layout and a List styled layout, you’ll get what i mean once you’ve uploaded and activated the theme.
Custom Fields & Plugins
This theme will run out of the box, there’s no real need for any plugins to be installed HOWEVER to get the most out of this theme i highly suggest you install these plugin:
Custom fields are also in use for this theme, you can learn more in the README section once you’ve activated the theme.
The Backend
Once you’ve uploaded and activated theme in your wp-admin>>presentation you will noticed another tab called Mzine CMS option, this is the place where you will be able to control the style of your theme, your prefered font family (17 to choose from!), your prefered font size, and you can also set image aligments that will automatically align images in your post to the left or right or none at all!.
You will also be able to add a header to the theme (894×125 minimum width and height) just paste your header’s URL.
There’s also some other cool stuff like font colors, navigation colors etc, download the theme to find out!.
Forte?
I did ask you to name this theme and there was some excellent suggestions but in the end i chose Forte because of my inclination towards music, my name has the initials of MF and some of my friends call me mezzo-forte which means moderately slow in musical terms, i already have a theme named Mezzo so i guess i wanted to complete it by releasing Forte.
License and Credits:
Forte is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0, which essentially means you are free to edit and remix the theme as you wish BUT the two links in the footer that points back to this site must remain.
DOMTab by Chris Heilmann
Footer Link Removal
I understand that some might want to use this theme for certain projects and require the links in the footer to be removed, I am accepting a flat fee of $25 for permission to remove the links, please contact me for more info.
Support
Releasing a few themes before this has taught me that it’s quite hard for me to answer every single support question, that is why i have decided to setup a support forum (soon) where i will once in a while offer my help but i’m also hoping that the readers of this blog will help each other out too.
Ideas:
This theme is very tweakable, you can change the background, add logo and such to make it unique,as an example I am using this theme on my Football Blog as well.
Live Demo
(it’s the same theme this blog is using now).
Download: Forte Theme — Downloaded Times
**There’s also a French translation of this theme by libretto
**Update 31st January 2008
Video of Theme options:
This one of my first times doing a video tutorial thingy, i regret that it’s not clear as it is, anyone with video experience please let me know what is the best resolution if i’m going to upload to YouTube, i’m using the Camtasia Studio software.
Thanks

January 24th, 2008 at 3:56 am
Amazing theme
gone to write about it on my blog
January 24th, 2008 at 3:57 am
It’s a fully internationalized theme readi to be localized in any language or there is any I18N functions at all?
January 24th, 2008 at 4:03 am
i like this theme, its simple and looks great. its easy for newbies and with this plugins you included its enough to start a little magazin-blog from scratch.
the only problem is the customfield-everyone has it, but none uses it correctly. i saw many themes like mimbo, structure, visuality and wpdesigners that are using this custom fields. but what was before?
none has used this neat feature and i think its grown to popuarity since those themes are created. but thats another discussion.
what i like on this theme is the easy reading and the tabbed-menu in your sidebar. thats something i also would include in our poolsports page. the sidebar there looks terrible and empty, but thats not your problem
gratulations on your theme number 13, i really like it and i hope you can get alot of feedback and linkbacks.
January 24th, 2008 at 4:03 am
@SteveAgl – Hmm.., i’ve never really explored the opportunity to release it in other languages, have any ideas? Thanks.
January 24th, 2008 at 4:07 am
Thank you Tom for your kind words, i too have a feeling some WordPress users are not well aquainted with the features of custom-fields, maybe if i have time over the weekend i’ll create a short video tutorial.
January 24th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
Very nice and clean theme. Love how you integrated the ad space and tabbed menu in the sidebar and the configurability. I have a list of premium themes on my blog ( in Dutch) and this one will surely be added to it.
Keep up the good work!
January 25th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
Congratulations on your blog’s first year! I’ve been a visitor of your blog many times and you’ve done a good job. Keep it up and more power to you!
Btw, I didn’t know that you made this theme available to the public. I only found out now when a friend of mine used it on his blog. If I knew earlier I would have used this theme too. I really like it.
January 27th, 2008 at 2:34 am
I dont see navigation?
blog is http://www.yeni.web.tr
January 27th, 2008 at 6:14 am
Hi Bülent Sakarya,
Did you download the theme from here or on another site? In any case i think a fresh upload will solve the problem.
January 27th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Yes, I had the same problem – no navigation bar appeared and I downloaded the files from here. Lovely theme, though.
January 27th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
Hmmm..is anyone else having this problem? I’ve re-uploaded the zip file just in case.
Let me know
Thanks
January 27th, 2008 at 7:06 pm
Hi Moses.
I have downloaded files from here, again. but still same problem.
January 27th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
The problem seems to be with configurations.php – I don’t think the server I’m using can cope with using it (no idea why, though). A workround may be to redefine the file as static css. I’ll try that.
January 28th, 2008 at 12:20 am
Tried the theme and it looks fine for me…
January 28th, 2008 at 1:29 am
Do i change configurations.php chmod?
January 28th, 2008 at 1:35 am
@ben – i see, i dunno why that might be, let e know how it goes for you.
@Bülent Sakarya – What is the current permission for configurations.php? mine is set to 644
January 28th, 2008 at 3:13 am
it is 644 now.
January 28th, 2008 at 10:39 am
great thanks, this is one of the best wp theme I’ve ever seen.
January 30th, 2008 at 8:58 am
Hi Moses, Firstly what I can say is this is a great wp theme..
I’m still learning on how to use the custom field.. I’ve problem here.. how I can display the video at the video tab.. I’m try to use the video-code as a key but not sure what’s the value to be key in.. I’ll try to use the direct video link and the embed code also but still failed..
I’m not sure if my way is correct or not.. could you briefly describe the correct way for this..
Sorry for the noob question..
January 30th, 2008 at 11:43 am
@Moses
how am i going to remove the dark grey color in the background of the post? I need to replace it to white instead of dark grey…you can see in in action at http://www.phblogger.net
January 30th, 2008 at 11:49 am
@Lhurey, hmmmm..the theme comes with a white background as you see on this blog, i have no idea why yours is in grey?
@Fizfaz – Hi, i will try to create a simple video tutorial about custom fields for this theme in a day or two , i also need to setup a support forum but my current schedule is a little tight..no worries though i will try to get it up before the weekend.
January 30th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
@Moses
do you have any guess why i am having a dark grey back ground?
January 30th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Very cool features, thanks!
January 30th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
This is, by far, the best WP theme I have ever seen. I’m maintaining a really complicated website that needs both looks and functionality (and at the same time it shouldn’t scare people who are as tech-savvy as they were back in ’98) and I think Forte leaves enough space for customisation, yet it’s really user-friendly and some things about it are exactly what I imagined: tasteful colours, nice bullets, some tabs to save space, all the plugins I’d normally use for interaction.
The only little problem I see is some really weird grammar under the “Post My Comment” button. The sentence almost makes no sense and I don’t know if it’s the plugin or…? O_o Now I have noticed grammar weirdness on the no-results page as well. That’s my only contra here, all the others are pros.
January 31st, 2008 at 12:58 am
…and now it says that I said the above “in” 30th January 2008. So, the only weak point of this amazing theme is grammar…seriously:(
January 31st, 2008 at 5:05 am
@Iva, thanks for the compliments and pointing out the grammar error, my mistake, will edit it soon.
Cheers.
January 31st, 2008 at 5:09 am
It seems that your theme is already very very popular. I think your work deserve this popularity.
I’ve released the french translation here : http://wordpress-tuto.fr/theme-wordpress-magazine-forte-329
January 31st, 2008 at 5:18 am
Thank You libretto, i shall update the post to point to the French version as well.
January 31st, 2008 at 10:24 am
I’m also struggling with the video DOMtab. Suggestions/advice would be great. This is a really nice theme. Well done!
January 31st, 2008 at 11:47 am
@Charbel – Hi, what kind of problems are you facing with the DOMtab/video?
Have you tried adding the code via custom fields?
Let me know.
January 31st, 2008 at 11:59 am
I am also trying to add video to the sidebar, i have done just the link to the video in the custom field, the whole code offered by youtube, but it does not work. Can you by chance just give an example screenshot of what we should do to get it to work?
January 31st, 2008 at 1:58 pm
Happy Anniversary, and thank you for Forte.
Vote for it on wpthemez.
January 31st, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Hello – first off, great theme! I really like it, however, Ive been having some trouble getting it to work on my server, could you take a look and tell me what im doing wrong?
http://trucks.chinacartimes.com
any help would be great appreciated. all files have been uploaded!
I will help translating the theme to Chinese if someone helps me out!
January 31st, 2008 at 5:19 pm
@Moses Sorry, I should have been more clear. I am facing similar issues w/ video as the other folks are mentioning via comments. I place the key you specify in the settings section and I have tried placing both the URL and the embed code…the video doesn’t show up. I will have a look at the video you just submitted to see if you mention it. If not, I’ll keep looking here in the comments section for responses. Thanks so much!
January 31st, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Re: video tab. I just figured out why we’re having trouble seeing the videos appear in the DOMtab. I looked in [ domtab.php ] and found this section:
I uncommented, saved, and uploaded. Went back to my post, filled in the key (video-code) and Value (the embed code from YouTube), and it worked! Once I removed the [ /* */ ] from the php call in domtab.php, it worked fine. I hope that helps.
January 31st, 2008 at 6:16 pm
@charbel
i see charbel found the easter egg already…just kidding
i was about the post the problems fix.
@Lhurey
open configuration.php and find this line
body {
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
font-family: <?php echo $tn_mz_blog_font_type; ?>;
font-size: 100%;
color: #4E4E4E;
background: #FFFFFF url(images/bg.png) repeat;
}
- change the backgorund to backgorund: #FFFFFF;
that should remove the img background css
=========================================
@video embed problem
the video embed placement in sidebar domtab is control by “video-code” without quote custom field value, it will display only one latest video that will be query from database meta field….
you have to uncomment the domtab.php get_latest_vid first
<?php /* get_latestvideo(); */ ?>
change to
<?php get_latestvideo(); ?>
========================================
thanks moses for the mention
I was thinking the same thing.. how to make more clear
video tutorial?…i always wanted to make some theme tutorial
in the future
January 31st, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Thank You Richie
February 1st, 2008 at 12:16 am
Finally somebody found why the video is not appeared. Thanks.
I’ve another question, how we can disable the excerpt post at the home page? Thanks in advance.
February 1st, 2008 at 3:04 am
Hi, moses, thanks for your great theme, I’m using it on my blog now. But I find something, eh, maybe I can call it a bug? In the index page I can see the comment count of a post, for example, “2 comments”, but when I click it, I’m taken to the “post my comment” input form, not the comments section. This is indeed not convinient.
February 1st, 2008 at 11:22 am
This may be a dumb question, but how do I get text to wrap around images in a post? You can check out my blog here: Building Camelot
February 1st, 2008 at 6:06 pm
Great job.. when i put video link in value in the custom field .. it shows the link instead video..
What do u think i am doing wrong
February 1st, 2008 at 6:41 pm
@Tyler @ Building Camelot – You can align the images left or right in the “Mzine CMS Option”, look out for “Global Image Alignment”.
@alikhan – Looks like your placing the URL of the video instead of the embed codes.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:34 pm
Great theme. One problem though… Why won´t the featured articles section work. I choose the category, but the recent post in that category just won´t stay sticky.
February 1st, 2008 at 11:08 pm
@Moses if i put the embed code for youtube video it is displayed correctly, but xhtml validation show 21 errors all related to the embed code. There is a way to use viper video plugin to display video in the box? Or some other solution that let xhtml validation go ok?
Naturally great work Moses.
ciao
February 2nd, 2008 at 3:10 am
Moses,
First I’ve got to say I love your footyblog. My son is a great football fan and loves Manchester Utd. I have given him your blog address and he is tuning in.
. Thanks for putting together a cool theme. Very hopeful I can make it work for my purposes.
I am an author and wanting to est a blog for promoting what I write and communicating with my readership. I really like the look and feel of your Forte theme. I have downloaded it and begun to setup my blog, but I’m an newby and I am having some general trouble with the setup (e.g. I want to put in my own logo and picture, but can’t figure out how to lay it in, I would like to have a “tell-a-friend” email forwarding and I’m not sure how to do that (is that something that “Feedburner” addresses?), sometimes the site says Comment area not open, etc, etc.). Is there a way that I might be able to solicit your direct help (for pay of course) in helping me get everything setup? If not, could you lead me to someone that could help me? I think I can get there on my own…eventually…but I might go crazy in the process
Chris
February 2nd, 2008 at 7:30 am
Does anyone know why I cant see the navigation bar? Please help me, I realy wnat to use this great theme.
February 2nd, 2008 at 7:50 am
This is a beautiful theme! But I am having one problem: the featured-images thumbnails crop my images instead of shrinking them (they only display the upper left portion of the image, no matter what size). Is this something that can be fixed or should I just plan on creating thumbs in the exact size the template uses (which looks like maybe 75×75?). On that subject, it would be nice if there was more control over the size of the thumbs. I’d rather see 100×100 or 125×125 thumbs if possible.
February 2nd, 2008 at 8:05 am
Hi, I’m back… I just found the answer to my question. By changing the “span-img” properties in the style CSS file I was able to make the thumbnail bigger. The default is 64×64. I made it 150×150 and didn’t notice any adverse effect on the theme. Still can’t explain the cropping vs. shrinking but at least now I can create some custom size thumbs and use them with the custom field. Outstanding!
February 2nd, 2008 at 10:13 am
Moses
I have continued to work throughout the day one the Forte theme. I still haven’t resolved the issues in my last post, but I am getting more comfortable with it all the time. I have been able to adapt it quite a bit now. I opened a FeedBurner account after reading up a bit and I have put all the plug-ins out on my server that you suggest. I thought when I activated them that the plug-ins would cause the “subscribe” button and email subscription page to appear…wrong again. Is there some script I need to unlock or if not, can you give me some information about how to go about setting things up for FeedBurner just like you have them on your FootyBlog. Will appreciate whatever help you can give.
Chris
February 2nd, 2008 at 1:07 pm
@Chrisd, hi, Thanks for your kind comments.
You need to configure the feedburner plugin that i recomended, to do that you must go to Options>>FeedCount in your wp-admin panel, and follow the instructions there.
Yes, sure, please contact me.
February 2nd, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Moses, any update for my above comment? Cheers!
February 2nd, 2008 at 7:43 pm
How do you make the excerpt on the front page longer?
February 4th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
I still have one problem… Why won´t the featured articles section work. I choose the category, but the recent post in that category just won´t stay sticky. So, what is wrong? The theme is great, but when this function is not working, it looses the idea.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:55 am
Do you have any tips on how to get the Feature function to work? I have tried everything in the settings, but it still just shows summaries of each post from all cats in chronological as usual for blogs.
Also, The first 3 post summaries don’t have the “Read More” button. Any idea why?
February 5th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
OK, no replies to my request. So, here´s a simple patch to all of you that won´t get the FEATURED ARTICLES section to work.
1. Open up the file Forte/layouts/mzine.php.
2 Find the

part.
3. Above that piece of code , paste this:

showposts defines how many posts from your featured category you want to display, and the cat points to the category from which to pull your posts.
Works wonders, though it´s simple, and does not interfere with any other function within Forte.
February 5th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
Hmmm… Did not want to display the code parts. I´ll try this:
<!– –>
For the first part.
February 5th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
Hmmm… Did not want to display the code parts. How can I display some piece of code here?
February 6th, 2008 at 5:47 am
how i can use flickr roll without widget??where insert rss feed?
February 7th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
This is amazing themes. already download it. but look at download stats.. already 1400+ downloaded. cool huh
February 11th, 2008 at 1:39 am
Hi, Moses, how can I add a border to the images in a post? I checked the global.css and style.css, but could not find a way. Even when I added a border manually in the tiny-mce editor, it couldn’t be displayed properly. Thanks for your great theme!
February 11th, 2008 at 5:23 am
For the life of me I cannot figure out how to add something on the main blog page post area. I don’t know why I can’t figure it out….but I can’t. I want to add something below where the text displays on each post only on the main page, but I cannot find the file that will allow me to do this. The “Main Index” file is not like most other theme files, and I can’t figure out what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
February 11th, 2008 at 6:13 am
Also, how do I make the theme not delete my returns and leave the spacing I am putting between paragraphs? I know it is somewhere in the CSS but I can’t find it. Thanks for the help.
February 11th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Is there anyway to release this theme without all the added stuff? Like w/o the mzine stuff and options stuff? Just pure static css files? The current theme, as it stands, doesnt work on my server.
February 13th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Wow, I have been looking around for the best WP Theme to use. This one I think is the best – exactly what a blogger would want on a theme – especially for newbie bloggers like me…
Will try this and feature it on my blog. More power!
February 13th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Love this theme. Thank you so much. Im using it on my savings blog at http://savings.reedwhatmatters.com. Love it. I may change over my main site. Thanks for this creation!
February 15th, 2008 at 9:50 am

I am now using it in my http://www.goparadisephilippines.com and I love it…
February 17th, 2008 at 8:58 am
Where is the tag support ? It’s such an excellent theme.
Sad that it lacks a prominent feature…
February 18th, 2008 at 12:30 am
hi! i am using this theme (Forte), i have a question and i need your help on this. I usually can figure this kind of stuff myself but i can’t seem to figure this one out. Whenever i post an image it automatically floats left and it messes up my smilies or whatever image i post. can you point me to where i could edit that in the CSS? Thanks a lot!
February 18th, 2008 at 2:33 am
ok my questions refer to the implementation of this theme on my self-hosted blog at http://nikas-culinaria.com
I have the 2.3.3 install
is it not the case that cat is no longer valid but must be term? I am not able to get the featured stuff to work and am wondering if this is the reason.
February 18th, 2008 at 3:08 am
Great theme! A fantastic combination of simplicity & value. LIke many others, I am a newbie to WordPress and I can’t get the video tab to work. Can somebody post a step-by-step comment?
February 18th, 2008 at 3:16 am
For video help please read this
February 18th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
The video feature works fine now. Many thanks for a great theme!
February 18th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
hi again. please disregard my previous comment. i figured it out and it was dumb of me to forget about the Mzine options.
best theme ever!
February 18th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
really nice theme
February 18th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
hi, how do I change the background colour of the footer? I checked on the Mzine options but could not locate it. Do I have to make changes in the CSS?
February 18th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
I noticed that Lightbox plugin not working with this theme. Anyone did solve LightBox plugin problem?
February 19th, 2008 at 7:40 am
Next question. When i set up align in Mzine CMS Option/Global Image Alignment for example “left” then all of my pictures are left aligned, How to change some pictures align? For example only 1 picture should be align right?
When i use align to picture in post, it doesn’t work
February 19th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
For upstairs, I think place the pics using , sth like this one by one is better…
February 19th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Please forgive my ignorance, i really need to learn more about wordpress, , I love this template and would like to use it, however I am very much a newbie.. how would I change the background to my own? I love the image you had in the demo of the siding.. I couldn’t by any chance use that as a background could I?
And on the DIGG FOR DESIGNERS part I’d love to be able to change those to be able to reflect a bunch of images.. would I just find the code in the respective style sheet and change it and upload the same size image with a different file name? ee… I’m really new to this but am trying to learn.. does anyone know of a great site with tutorials to customize a wp theme, more specific this one?
Thank you for your time & efforts. I love your theme!
February 19th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
@ loca – i would love to help you but you would need some basic knoledge of PHP,HTML and CSS.
ANywayz, you can change your background by editing the configurations.php file and to change the images “DIGG FOR DESIGNERS” you would have to edit advertisment.php
THIS IS ALSO A GOOD READ.
February 19th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
Hi Moses, I want how can I see some pictures in the main page when post some post, and when go read more to can see all pictures. I want this because, all time when i post something give me a small text only(I want 1 picture to show too), and when i go read more, it show me the hole post whit pictures.
February 21st, 2008 at 2:57 am
thank you moses. I will have to get some good books on css and php i know a little and I will follow the site you linked too.
you’re awesome!
February 21st, 2008 at 4:30 am
I have to say I really like Forte. I’ve just spent the last 12 or so hours with it and I really like how you laid it out. Very smart, very slick. Thank you.
Unfortunately, I’m having a problem with the theme displaying properly. In IE 7, it renders correctly but I have a “domtab.backToLinks is null or not an object” error. I’m sure I’ve done something wrong, but I’m wondering if you have any suggestions as to what I should look for.
February 21st, 2008 at 11:01 pm
I’m having the same problem with the navigation bar. It also won’t show the gray striped background.
Has this problem been fixed for the other people??
Lovin the theme if it would work! Thanks,
February 22nd, 2008 at 7:26 am
Anyone figure out how to fix the navigation bar not showing?
I also get a pure white background, not like the demo shows.
Please advise, thanks!
February 22nd, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Moses,
Thank you for the awesome theme. I’m working with it now and am loving it. I have almost the same question as Marcin.
I typically setup my image placement within each individual post. So I configured the Global Image Alignment to “none.” In an individual posts where I select an alignment of “left” it looks fine in the wysiwyg editor, but not in the final result. For example, see this post: http://semiproblogging.com/copyblogger-on-keyword-research-for-bloggers/
Thank you so much for your help.

Moses,
Hey, I figured it out (not bad for an attorney eh?). Anyways, I went into the configurations.php file and deleted the following:
.post-content img {
float: ;
border-width: 0px;
}
Now the alignment commands that I set within my posts work. Thanks again for the great theme.

Same problem here, comments stop working with WP 2.8.
Stuck into 2.7 from the moment.

MarcinZ, that’s awesome. Too bad I don’t understand the language your site is in.
I do have another question. Is it possible that when a visitor goes to an individual post where there is a “video-code” key in the custom field value, that the video in that custom field gets shown rather than the latest video?
Alternatively, is there a way to have navigation links within the videos tab to show more than one video. For example, in my blog located at http://the270.com, I have two vidoes stacked on top of one another (I’ll explain below how I did that). These represent the last two videos that I added via the custom field. What I would like is to only display one video and have a link to display the “next” video and so on. As an example, in this theme, http://www.wp-magazine.com/, there are “featured article” links that a user can click to go goto the next featured article. I’d like to do something similar to that in the videos tab.
Okay, here’s how I got the videos tab to display more than one video. In the functions.php file, goto the section called “grab video meta code from database for wp”. From there, change the number 1 to the number 2 in the following line: ORDER BY meta_id DESC LIMIT 1

I am trying to add a 300×250 Adsense Block into the Single Page… exactly where the forte.jpg is on this page and I am trying to make the text wrap around the Adsense block… But when I add the code, it is shifting the whole text down…
Any Idea how I can do it? I just want to place the Adsense code where the forte.jpg is… Thanks
February 26th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
I have also had the problem with the navigation bar, it does not show the black background and shows the list vertical instead of horizontal. For some reason, the problem solved itself on my site http://www.wwohn.com. I have no idea why.
Anyhow, I now started a Dutch blog at http://www.wwohn.nl and the same problem pops up.
I was now able to track down the problem. The css in configurations.php is not working properly. The error is in line 2:
“require_once( dirname(__FILE__) . ‘../../../../wp-config.php’);”
This line gives an error stating that the file “wp-content/themes/Forte../../../../wp-config.php” cannot be found.
Subsequently, it doen not parse the external style sheet in configurations.php and therefore the styling is not correct. This produces the error in the navigation bar.
I solved the problem by providing the absolute path to wp-config.php. I do not get the error anymore and the navigation bar shows perfectly.
I am sure that somebody can come up with a line of coding to fix this in the main template.

I was reading the post by Richie, http://wpthemesplugin.com/forte-2-column-blog-magazine-list-styled-wordpress-theme/#comment-36553 about the video in the side bar.
I want to add video in a post though. Somebody any idea if this theme supports this. How should i do this
February 29th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
I have a problem showing the video in the exact size of the dom tab (side bar).
I follow all the instructions that I read in these comments. Everything is ok but the video player that gome is showing is larger than the dom tan “Video” column.
This is the video code that I ad in the content custom fields.

Where can I reduce the number of post that Forte is showing in the home page?
I tried in “magazine layout” and did not saw where to do the change.
February 29th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
I am still having one problem with the theme. It is problem enough that I have had to stop using it until I can find the problem. How do I make the theme not delete my returns and leave the spacing I am putting between paragraphs? To date, it does not leave the spacing that should be a “return” () in any post. It just puts the lines one after the other, no space. I do not know what to do with it anymore. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

@Oliver Willis – just remove this from the style.css:
“text-transform: capitalize; “

March 15th, 2008 at 8:41 am

March 17th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
hmmm… guys i have a question again
how to put the “READ MORE” button after the post, not depending on its lenght and excerption?
March 18th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
@eric hamby – u mean icons of your readers? you’ll need to get the code from mybloglog.com
@bardo – Do you mean you want the whole post to appear on the front and still use the read more button?
March 18th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
Hello
Moses, first, congratulations by theme, very good.
I am adapting to the Portuguese language, and so it is ready to send you.
There was no problem with installation, some items that were not well resolved through the responses sent here.
A unique problem, which saw not answer here, and you may have the solution, is that some themes, including this one, are reporting as “Error” by WP when used with the plugin WP_Spamfree, he complains that my browser is not with cookies enabled.
When disable the plugin, I can send comments normally.
Once again congratulations, I am setting up and I will use this theme.
Thank you, and sorry may English.
March 18th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
Moses, i mean i want the “read more” button to appear after each post.
For example, i just write the “optional excerpt” through standart WP admin interface, and all the content of a post is displayed when you press the “read more” button, that i’ve located right as i like for me
March 19th, 2008 at 4:07 am
Great theme! I’m loving it. I have one noob question that I can’t figure out. Where in the css file do I change the font-size for the body of the posts? I want to make the posts’ text just a big larger.
March 19th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
Thanks for the great looking theme!
March 20th, 2008 at 7:58 am

I am having trouble with the video embed. I changed the domtab.php file, but I really don’t know where to put the video code and being a newbie. I guess for the response for me is where would I put the video-code, and the embed code? I do not see any files marked video.
Thanks!
March 21st, 2008 at 2:59 pm
I’d like to pull latest articles from more than 2 categories on featured articles section (on the sidebar). Anyone can help me out?
March 21st, 2008 at 10:14 pm
hawaiidave
Simple.
Write an article (WRITE), this page and then below is a table “Add a new custom field,” you put “video-code” into “key” and puts the video (embed code) in value.
Only that.
I made the translation to the Portuguese language, and changed several aspects to ADSense, if they want see it, http://bife.comfritas.com
If, like some part of ADSense only ask where is changed.
March 22nd, 2008 at 4:20 am
Great Theme.
I made major changes to it, especially removing the entire backend script. I wasn’t really into all that. It’s on my site.
Really like it. Thanks!
March 22nd, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Strange. I’d just change the permalinks config and edit the htaccess, I’m not having this kind of error..maybe.

How do I remove the “My WP Themes” column and remove the Flickr Roll?
March 24th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
@Jay – you would have to edit sidebar.php
March 24th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
@Moses
Ok thanks. All I need to do now is remove Flickr Roll from the footer but I cannot seem to do that without messing up the footer. I removed everything below
and left
March 25th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
I saw this asked before but did not see a response – I was curious if this theme has been tested with WordPress 2.5 (RC1) and if it is not compatible if there is any plan on making it so?
Thanks much for your time
March 26th, 2008 at 2:47 am
Hi again Moses!
Can you tell me why does the formatting of the text is broken on my index page?
Singles are OK, but i don’t see the links, spacings, paragraphs etc. on the index…
Same to images…

I am using this theme on my blog. Can I resize the sidebar to make it bigger?
March 27th, 2008 at 8:53 am
Does anybody know how I could convert the text header to an image letter in the theme editor?
Thanks alot……awesome theme
March 30th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
“Featured” at the top doesn’t work on my system. It’s WP 2.3.3 – I saw a ref to it but no code. I guess I must edit mzine.php, but what needs to change?
March 30th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
i like this theme and as u can see i use it in my blog. thanks for coming up with such theme. however, there are questions i’d like to ask, especially that I have some difficulties about the theme.
1. how do i put/embed video in the domtab? is there a plug-in that can automatically embed my videos in post to the tab?
2. how i put that subscriber count on my sidebar too. i love to put it. i thin it is better than putting the Feedburner chicklet at all.
please help. i might be throwing some more questions when i meet some more difficulties. i hope you can answer my questions as soon as you can. thanks a lot!
March 30th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Nicole – It is compatible with 2.5
bardo – Can you give me your URL?
Steve Yu – Yes, that is possible, however you’ll need to edit the CSS
Faron Benoit – Do you a logo to replace the text? well you’ll need to edit the header.php
goldie – You will need to go to “Mzine CMS options” and from “Choose Your Blog Style:” , choose “Mzine”.
Once that is settle you’ll need to edit “Frontpage Settings” as desired.
March 30th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
i have another question. when i put a picture in my post, the words that follow it automatically settles below the picture. i guess it has to do with text wrapping, in which case I don’t know what code to add to or delete from the CSS to enable text wrapping. can you help me?
March 30th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
@Zang – Go to Presentations>>Mzine CMS Options and from “Global Image Alignment:” choose left or right and the text will wrap around it.
March 31st, 2008 at 5:24 am
Hi, how can I add more sidebars to my blog? 2 sidebars – left and right are too little for me.
Thanks.
March 31st, 2008 at 9:15 am
thanks Moses! it sure helps. I love you for replying right back. However, my first two questions weren’t answered yet.
March 31st, 2008 at 7:06 pm
i tried that tip, Moses. but it didn’t work, even with LEFT or RIGHT image alignment, and even NONE. it just won’t work. still the following words will go right below the image even if the image is small. the words won’t settle at the picture’s side
March 31st, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Hi, Fine Theme and useful comments. I’d like to reduce the number of lines showed after de title of the post in the home page. How can I do that?
April 1st, 2008 at 1:22 am
Hello all. Does anyone know why my page goes blank (only the content div) when i try to view a comment ?
For example when i click on a link like the following
http://softinquiry.com/wholinked-can-be-your-way-of-saying-thank-you.html#comment-661
or when i submit a comment, when the page loads it displays my comment for 1 second and then it goes blank after the page is fully loaded.
I am using WP 2.5, i tried deactivating all the plugins and stuff but nothing seems to work so i thought i could get some help from you guys. It seems like this problem only shows on when i am using Forte theme.
If anyone can help i would much appreciate. Thanks !

I had mzine selected already. Here’s what happens: the newest “featured” article is displayed at the top, but I had to edit mzine.php to get it to work (the variable tn_mz_featured_post_status did not contain “yes” – I added a line
if (! empty($tn_mz_featured_articles_cat)) $tn_mz_featured_post_status=yes;
So now I get the featured post, but it is repeated a second time in the body, although the var $do_not_duplicate does contain its ID number.
What can be the problem?
April 1st, 2008 at 4:07 am
[ Sorry if this is a duplicate. When I posted, your site gave a message something like "the post you're looking for has been removed by author". I went back and hit the "post" button again, and this time it said it looked like a duplicate, but it is not listed here... so I try typing these lines to see if it can be unduplicated and will post. We will see.]

I’m getting the same domtab.BackToLinks is null or not an object error as a few of the people above. Is there any fix for this?
By the way, the same error shows up here on your page. I am using IE7 on Windows XP. There appears to be a code bug in this theme somewhere.
April 1st, 2008 at 10:06 am
im still having some trouble with this theme. i’m still studying it. by the way, Moses, would it be okay if I too will have your background (that asterisk thing) to mine? i hope you won’t. i like it better than the pre-installed…
April 1st, 2008 at 2:52 pm
For the people having problem with the nav bar and background not showing up, it has been said that you should set an absolute reference in the configurations.php file to the wp-config.php file. Instead of setting an absolute reference, you may just need to add a ../ to the sequence. I think some people are having this problem and others aren’t because of how their domains are hosted (i.e. hosted as a sub domain, etc)
In the configurations.php file edit the second line
require_once( dirname(__FILE__) . ‘../../../../wp-config.php’);
and change it to
require_once( dirname(__FILE__) . ‘../../../../../wp-config.php’);
If that doesn’t work, add another ../ and then save and check. You may have to play around with this line a little to get the reference perfect. Just remember to add the ../ one at a time, save it and then check in your browser each time.
Hope this helps someone else.

Moses,
Tried to email you at another address I had, but hadn’t heard back. Hope to get you here. I am putting together a blog for my son to promote himself to football scouts. I would love to use the grass background like you have on the footyblog. Could you email me with the way to do that and where to get the graphic you used? I would greatly appreciate it! By the way, I continue to get great reviews on my author’s weblog.

April 3rd, 2008 at 2:54 am
@Chris – Hi chris, i actually did answer your mail, i guess it must have been caught in your spam folder.
Here was my reply:
“Hi Chris,
Glad everything is ok with your blog.
The truth i can’t remember exactly where i got my grass background as
i have visited many sites that offers background.
I think it’s between sxc.hu and Stockxpert.com
Yea, i’ll give your son a plug once his blog is setup,just let me know.
God Bless.”
and sure, i will plug your sons blog
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:02 am
I love this theme..thanks Moses. I’m still a bit of a newbie, is there a resource or guide for instructions on:
1. Creating/Inserting a Poll (and adding the video content and other items in that section)
2. Removing the flicker section from the footer
Thanks in advance!
-Scott
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:29 pm
@Scott –
1) You must install the Poll plugin OR use what i’m using on this blog – PollDaddy.com, once you have setup your Poll at PollDaddy.com, get the codes and paste in domtab.php
2)To remove the flickr section you will need to edit footer.php
********************************************************************************
And just a note to everyone else I will be releasing the Forte theme again, but will a little tweaking, most probably i’ll called it ForteReloaded or something and here’s what i have in mind:
– Header ready and logo ready
- Move the “search” from the top to the sidebar
- “cut” the footer and remove Flickr/recent comments/about author/ etc so that you will have a nice footer like http://musicforlondon.co.uk/musicians-for-hire/
So far that’s what i’m planning to do and should probably release it by this weekend.
Cheers.
April 4th, 2008 at 3:44 am
Thanks Moses…looking forward to “reloaded”…just what i’m looking for.
I went with Polldaddy. Perfect. So, for video, same thing? Paste code from youtube or blip, etc in domtab.php?
April 4th, 2008 at 3:59 am
@Scott – for video you will need to use “Custom Fields”, in the “write” section of your admin you will see “custom fields” right at the bottom, in the “Key section” paste this : video-code, than in the “Value” section paste the Youtube embed codes.
April 4th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
the commentluv plug-in does not work with this theme?
April 5th, 2008 at 12:52 am
The post titles are begin cut-off when viewed with IE. Does anyone know how to fix? I am assuming its a simple case of adding some padding somewhere, I just don’t know where.
Here is an example: http://aycu12.webshots.com/image/51171/2000524593617149485_rs.jpg
You can see the bottom of the “g” is cut-off
Thanks.
April 5th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
Is there a way for the “Subscribe to Comments” plugin to work with this theme? I like the theme a lot and have spent a little time on it,but have noticed that the plugin isn’t showing up here in Forte. Thanks so much!
April 6th, 2008 at 4:58 am
Perfect theme! thanks you
April 7th, 2008 at 8:00 am
Love the theme. Would love to know if anyone can tell me the best way to change the sidebar from two sidebars to just one wider one. With all the other goodness, I don’t need two siderbars and would love to change it.
TIA

Hi. Nice theme. Anyone know how I can add this star rating code to this theme if I’m using the blog style: blog.
I want to put this star rating code after every post on the front page!
Thanks!
April 10th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
When I view my blog with IE, the sidebar looks very different. What should I do?
April 10th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
Hi Moses,
I love your theme so much with all the flexibility it offers! I am not very good with php and all, but I have been trying for many hours now to make the images uploaded in the custom fields that show up on the mzine style, mini-loop, sidebar, and image post) automatically crop….but am having zero success :-\
Darren at darranhoyt.com has recently released an open source script he uses on his premium theme to do this automatic cropping for the custom field images that I think would make your upcoming ‘ForteReloaded’ release even more powerful
Here is the link: http://www.darrenhoyt.com/2008/04/02/timthumb-php-script-released/ .
It seems pretty simple because of the exact way he explains it. But I just cant seem to find where to do this with your theme for all the places custom field images are used….’Noob Alert!!’
Can you consider adding this, or guiding us on where to go on your theme to do this ourselves?
Anything is greatly appreciated.

Moses-
Really diggin this theme, and thanks for all the help/feedback. One more question (for you Moses, or anyone else that knows), I would like to change the title “Blogroll” to something else (like “Links” or “Artists”). Is there a way to do this in the code (I couldn’t find that in any of the folders).
Also, is it possible to create a “fixed” or “sticky” post that remains at the top (and preferably without a date).
Thanks

There is no way I can make the avatar feature work. I can see my avatar in this page, but I cannot see mine in my own page. I installed the plugin MyAvatar, as was said in the forum … but I cannot see any options or anything that helps me to make it work properly. Can anyone help me in this, pls!? Thanks for yor time …

Great theme, just wanted to know why no ‘email this to a friend’ link? there are so many buttons but 90% of the time, I email an article to a friend, not use Reddit, etc. (the other 10% is Digg or Stumble Upon).

Hi Moses,
First of all thanks for the beautiful theme. I have been using this theme in my blog (http://www.midssynchro2007.org). Everything is perfect except I usually have to go to the advance section in the post section and make the post alignment justified. Is there any other way like “playing with the codes” so that the post would appear default when I post them? Please email me the tweak (You can email me in the email id that I have posted while writing this comment).
Also, would you send me the cool sponsored listings box that you have installed here?
I would be a happy man if you provide me both the tweak and box. hehe…
Regards,
Amrit.
Keep of the good work and do keep us posted of any other new themes you have in mind in future

Hi Moses…good job.
I have problem with video. I put in the video-code in key and then put the embed in value. But nothing comes out. When i write, must i put a title? and must i post something? do i assign a category and tag? Its weird it doesnt work still.. I changed the domtab.php file.
It now reads as below. I took out the whole line of php call. Is this correct?

It’s just me that wants more than one video?
Could we create something like get_last3videos?
The width is perfect for that, in my case.
Please let me know if that’s possible.
Thanks in advance.

Forte- This is actually a 3-in-1 theme where you will be able to select you layout of choice from your theme admin panel, the choices are a (normal) blog layout, a Magazine styled layout and a List styled layout, you’ll get what i mean once you’ve uploaded and activated the theme.

Hello,
Excellent theme. I use on my site, but… how separated (divided) , without being published chronologically, in each section?
Now, in the central post public information day to day. Featured and Articles public old with dates so they do not show at home.
That I do, for a separate section, have chronological order?
Sorry for my English so bad.
Greetings

hello
I just downloaded this theme and was looking in the style.css file. There is reference to an image
.stick-feat {
background: url(images/feat.gif) no-repeat right top;
which is not included in the theme I downloaded. there is a feat-more.gif but no feat.gif. It makes me wonder what else is missing from this theme. Some instructions would also be good since I am having to work things out by trial and error. Otherwise I like the theme if it was not missing stuff.

Hi Moses, lovely theme but I seem to be missing the navigation bar from my download… is it an image file? Cannot get it displaying despite trying to change configurations file that somebody mentioned earlier. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Moses,
Great Theme. Gradually figuring it out with all the comments left on here!
I want to use the poll feature in the domtab using the WP-Poll plugin.
You mentioned in a comment response that this could be used (that and Poll Daddy).
Can you advise how to use the WP-Poll plugin with domtag?
Thanks
MissEm

This theme is a hoot! I’m having a lot of fun figuring out all the twists and turns…
One thing I can’t seem to figure out yet is how to make the home page post include links ad formatting. Anyone elese come across similar issues? It’s like the post is showing as static text but if I nav to via the post title it will show the links I put in.
Since there’s no forum here I also posted this in the WP forums http://wordpress.org/support/topic/215715?replies=1

I love this theme. I would just like to remove the flickrroll (flickrrss) in the footer and replace it with a nextgen widget. I have not been successful just replacing get_flickrRSS function. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks. Or any suggestions on how to make the footer widgetized like fortefied would be even better. Thanks.

March 9th, 2009 at 4:38 pm
wow, this theme is amazing. nicely done. Congratulations
March 23rd, 2009 at 11:00 am
It’s very good-looking, flexible and just nice to work with theme.
I use it with great pleasure.
I have had some problems with a few funktions – but happily they weren’t important to me and I don’t need to use them in my blog. So I just have blocked them.
I like sidebar and domtab – it gives many posibility in configuration.
Only one I didn’t like at first was the black footer. So I have changed the colour to dark grey. It’s look much better, I think.
I cant find better theme now!
Every I look seems not to have same important funktions.
Good job!

mezzo forte = moderately loud
April 6th, 2009 at 4:11 am
hello moses,
i came here to say thank you, im using forte theme as my blog template. i instantly like it from the first time i catch my eye on this theme. they are multipurpose, serve the need of small enterprise to display ads, products and its like a minisite, we dont get lost in too many pages. Forte is a great home, i can tweak here and there, customize font, content & layout.i spend a month customizing it (no CSS /FTP basics).
a few thing that dont work well during cosmetic touch up is i cant put up the header normally. i had to insert some codes. popularity plugin isnt working. the rest is superb.
so if you have new themes and plugins and need some volunteers to test them, i’d like to join in. thank you again.

HI,
Thanks for this great theme. I have a few questions :
1/ Where can I change the “Who is writing this blog part ?”
2/ When I disable the comments, I do not want to print on screen “comment off”, i want… nothing instead.
3/ where do I change the 4 squares on the right side ?
4/ where do I tweak the black bottom part of the page ?
regards,
Frédéric
