fourWPTP is my 8th theme release for the Wordpress community and as the name implies it’s a 4 column theme that is Widget ready (on the 2 right sidebars), admin bar ready (similar to wordpress.com), ultimate-tag warrior ready, page navigation ready, 468×60 banner ready on the header with trackbacks and comments being separated.
Navigation
This time around the navigation on the header and left sidebar (called mini sidebar) requires manual editing instead of the usual automatic link to pages created by you on your blog, i think this is important as you can add a host of other links to your navigation easily by editing the header.php file, as for the mini sidebar it’s just waiting for you to edit it, let your creativity juices flow (adsense maybe? the width of the minibar is 128px)
.
468×60 banner
This feature allows you to place a 468×60 banner on the header (as seen on the live demo) and to do that you just have to edit this line in header.php:
< div id="banner_468_60">< img src="http://www.wpthemesplugin.com/wp-content/themes/gazette/images/banner_placement.gif" alt="banner" / >< /div>
so for example you can place your banner like this:
< div id="banner_468_60">< a href=" http://www.text-link-ads.com/?ref=18312">< /div>
Trackbacks/pingback & Comments
This was one feature requested by fellow bloggers – to have trackbacks/pingbacks seperated from comments, i think it’s a great idea and helps your readers read the actual comments on your post and not trackbacks.
Miscellaneous Stuff
- Widget ready on the right sidebars
- SEO- content loads first
- Admin bar on top of your blog (if your already login), similar to Wordpress.com
- Page navigation and Myavatar ready (just upload and activate the plugins respectively)
- Technorati Fav and Stumble Upon button on the sidebar
< /div> Classes
Another thing requested by bloggers is div classes, the ability to align images and more, there’s already a text file called class.txt in the zip but just in case here is what’s available:
//class available (class useable for div, p)
============================< p class="warning">
< p class="notice">
< p class="downloads">
//img class and text content class available
=======================< img class="alignleft">
< img class="alignright">
< img class="aligncenter">
//sidebar class available
==============================< ul class="arrow"> /* for bullet li sidebar */
< ul class="noarrow"> /*no-bullet li sidebar..good for plugin integrations */
Enough of the yacking..i want to Download!!

sorry, when i write some post, the sidebar going down… can you see it in ouquo.com
thx for all
June 14th, 2007 at 6:44 am
I love this theme, but I found a bug. The side bars drop to the bottom of the page while on some post page see here: http://myblogit.net/2007/05/26/my-beef-with-the-zone-alarm/
Might be a bug in my post not sure.
June 14th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
Great theme, one of the best 4 column them I have ever seen. Not so user friendly though. Is the only way to change the Blog Title is by changing the image file? I think this is my only issue. Would you think about changing this or is there a to do this I just am not aware of?
Thanks Moses
June 14th, 2007 at 3:12 pm
I like it but as the previous commentator said, I find that changing the logo of the theme to be quite troublesome. Perhaps in the future you can release a 4-column theme that uses the WordPress default title text instead of relying on an image file.

ok guys here’s the fixed for above problems:
@ouque/MrBlogit/anyone have the same problem
it think the problems occurs with the related articles in comments page
The fixed: open your comments.php and go at the bottom and you’ll find the (if post) and related stuff. just move the (php if post) to bottom of the div class (related stuff) and it should look like this in the end:
<div class="related_stuff">
<?php if ( $posts ) : ?>
@logo placement with text:
this one a bit tricky..will send email to moses
for the fixed..

Hey Will you please let me know how to remove the mini side bar
June 26th, 2007 at 9:14 pm
@Bollyone, one of the ways is to tweak this part of the CSS:
.alter_mini_sidebar {
float: left;
width: 128px;
padding-right: 5px;
padding-left: 10px;
background-color: #F2F2F2;
padding-bottom: 10px;

Hello,
i have some problems with this Theme, too! 4 Columns ist nice, but i need a 3 columns Theme. Change it to a 3 Columns doesn’t happend. How can i made this theme to 3 Colmuns with only right and left Sidebar and the Headernavi with the Adminbar plugin?
Can you help me?
I know my english isn’t very good…
July 14th, 2007 at 11:42 am
@nastorseriessix
emm..no i don’t think it be done since the whole layout already optimize for 4 column layout. unless you redesign the layout and shrick the header and body length to match 3c width.(|oo)..the only resolution is not put an mini social stuff in far left sidebar so it won’t look empty.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

This template looked friendly and cute. But it is not compatible with wordpress 2.0.0 and above. Or you need to fix the bug. This blog is not a new blog for me to download this theme; I am disappointed many times when I download this theme from other websites. I hope you guys will fix the bug or remove the download page. Thanks

Hi Moses,
Nice theme so I started to use it. I need your help with this theme. When I am on the main page and click on the title af a blog article all the sidebars dissapear and go to the bottom of the page. This happens only in Firefox, not in IExplorer. Can you do something about it? I mean to ad some code so that the theme will be ok with all browsers… I am not a programmer but I think this is possible. Thanks a lot.
October 10th, 2007 at 2:12 am
Sorry, I didn’t know about this and already edited the links in the footer. please give me the code and I’ll put it there. Thanks.
October 10th, 2007 at 4:04 am

Thanks for help.
October 11th, 2007 at 6:47 am
Love the theme, but since you updated it to work with 2.3, when ever I use Sidebar 2 to add widgets. It is adding the same info in colums 3 and 4.
any help would be greatly appreciated
October 12th, 2007 at 2:53 pm

@kelaman

October 13th, 2007 at 1:58 am

Or is he ganna make a post about the updated file?
October 13th, 2007 at 3:16 am
Hi Kelaman, i’ll upload it within 24 hours.
Thanks
October 13th, 2007 at 3:41 am
NP
BTW great work. One of the best styles I have seen for Wordpress.
Any chance for a additional price of course, to add some changes to the template for me?
October 13th, 2007 at 10:51 pm
Kelaman and Moses – Thanks for your discussion.. that is exactly the same issue I’m having.
If I leave Sidebar2 empty the last 2 columns are different. As soon as I put something in Sidebar2 both colums 3 and 4 have the same content. Any update as to when to expect the updated release?
btw – here’s a demo of the issue: http://www.bostonrockdog.com/index.php?wptheme=fourwptpv2
Thanks for the great theme!
Thanks!
October 15th, 2007 at 12:37 am
He said 24 hours, but were going on 72 now. Hope it does get fixed soon
October 15th, 2007 at 12:39 am
Same issue here. whartever I put intop the sidebar widget, doubles in colums 3 and 4
October 15th, 2007 at 1:53 am
Alright guys, here’s the fix:
http://www.divshare.com/download/2345662-1cf
basically i’ve just added a new function.php and sidebar.php file, so if you already using the theme just replace these two files.
Sorry for lack of updates,am away from PC now.
October 15th, 2007 at 4:00 am
Works perfect! Thanks Moses!
October 15th, 2007 at 6:25 am
I found a bug in comments.php.
If registration is required to post comments and the reader is not logged in, it was displaying “Sorry the comment area are closed”.
I fixed it by replacing this code:
comment_status) : ?>
Sorry the comment area are closed
This is the updated code:
comment_status) : ?>
Please /wp-login.php?action=register”>Register or /wp-login.php”>Log In to comment.

It’s so perfect theme, let me want to change the theme again. Will download it quickly and install it. Many thanks for your good theme.
October 19th, 2007 at 11:01 pm
Thank you moses for this job. Is very beautiful, great theme.
Thanks to continue working on and resolving the doubts. Sorry is my englih is poor.
October 29th, 2007 at 7:36 pm
I guess 3 coloumn still the best. This would be great for side column ads.
November 1st, 2007 at 11:13 am
I downloaded the fix and I it is still not working correctly with IE6. I love the theme, but I will not be able to use it if it is not compatible with IE6.
Maybe I need clarification. Moses was the widget fix supposed to fix this issue?
Thanks in advance.
November 2nd, 2007 at 12:12 pm
Can anybody help me to understand why the sidebars are pushed down for some of my posts. Anyone find similar behavior with this wordpress theme?
November 2nd, 2007 at 12:24 pm
I forgot to give you example, but check out what happens with the sidebar for some of the posts on my blog. http://www.lifeiscolourful.com/your-show-top-commentators-wordpress-widget-not-working-fine/
I could not figure out why the sidebars are pushed down when there is nothing except text in the post.
I would love to have this issue fixed.
Thanks for providing a great professional template.

November 3rd, 2007 at 8:18 am
@life is colourful..indeed:)
the problems had been discuss in above comment and here are the following fix:
i think the problems occurs with the related articles in comments page
The fixed: open your comments.php and go at the bottom and you’ll find the (if post) and related stuff. just move the (php if post) to bottom of the div class (related stuff) and it should look like this in the end:
<div class="related_stuff">
<?php if ( $posts ) : ?>
since you using the older version of the 4wptp..the problems still occur..the 4wptp updated version for latest wp2.3 compatible replaced the related articles with plugin usage…
let’see if that fixed the sidebar collapsed awright
@leadcritic
please clarify the actual problems:)
if the problem was the weird double widget mirror..i think
moses already updated the fix with new downloads, you can grab the goodies again for an updated version..
November 3rd, 2007 at 12:55 pm
Thanks Richie K, and for the record for anyone who wants to know Richie was the coder for this theme so he does know what he’s talking about
November 6th, 2007 at 10:41 pm
Thanks for the COOLEST WP theme I’ve ever seen. Thank you!
November 8th, 2007 at 8:10 pm
Brilliant theme. Just a shame that sub-pages are not indented.
One specific question – how to I enable comments on Pages (i.e. not Posts). I need to be able to separate content into hierarchical pages and I absolutely need those pages to be commentable (for a very specific reason..)
Any ideas?
November 10th, 2007 at 3:50 am
I’m writing a post with chords for my song. I need to put a chord name at the top of certain word. How do I do that? Right now the chord names are always pushed to the left. It looked fine in my TinyMCE.
Here’s the link (see the problem I mentioned at the bottom part of the post);
http://thebije.com/2007/10/11/sesuatu-tentangmu/
November 10th, 2007 at 5:48 am
Problem’s solved..
I’ve found another solution.
Thanks.
November 11th, 2007 at 3:22 am
I guess 3 coloumn still the best. This would be great for side column ads.
November 11th, 2007 at 7:33 am
Again really like the theme. I would like to ad reCaptcha to the comments. the plugin will work if I am in Classic theme but will not display when I use FourWPTP. Any Ideas to get the reCaptcha plugin to work.
November 18th, 2007 at 2:55 am
Any idea why the 2 columns on the right mirror each other? Having a problem getting different code for each of the right sidebars, what should I do?
November 24th, 2007 at 8:21 am
Amazing theme! I’m using it on MarketingKingdom.com
Thank you very much!
November 26th, 2007 at 8:17 pm
BIG Thanks and respect to YOU
December 16th, 2007 at 4:02 am
Like the clean theme!
Few questions:
I see the right widget content twice as you can see in the test site I setup:
http://www.herospy.com/testsite/
Also is there a way to make the red header a picture background?
Is there a way to shorten the search box to make room for more links?
December 24th, 2007 at 2:24 am
Hey Moses
are you ever going to release the Mzine theme youre currently using here?
December 24th, 2007 at 6:26 pm
@Slacker – Yup, probably early next year.
January 3rd, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Hi,
four WPTP is a great theme and i am looking forward to mzine theme free release
. Keep up good work
January 13th, 2008 at 12:28 pm

January 14th, 2008 at 4:56 am
Hi—Moses:
This sounds like an excisting theme, and i want to view it in action before downloading, but the “Live Demo” link is not working for me. Is the demo site down?
Can’t wait to see the 4 column theme. Let me know.
Missy.
January 14th, 2008 at 8:58 am
Hi moses, I just met with your brilliant theme and I loved it! I’m now transferring all my old web stuff to the wp with your theme. But I have a problem with the theme (don’t worry, not sidebar problem hehe)
When I try to use a custom permalink for the blog as /%category%/%postname%/ it does not work. Moreover, it is not working with other default permalink choices except >>http://domain.com/?p=123
Is there anyway to fix it? It is really important for SEO as you guess
Thanks for your work again.
January 14th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
@ Missy – Sorry bout that had some database issues with the demo..it should be working now
@Engilizce – Hi, you can solve that problem by pasting this code in your .htacess file:
January 16th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
My right sidebars still dissapear… and are collapsed in IE, even if I’ve changed this at comments.php file:
In Firefox looks great, but IE not…
Who can help? Thanks a lot.

So beautiful theme. You got great jobs creating beautiful wordpress theme.
February 10th, 2008 at 11:17 am
Hi—Moses:
How do i change the title from “blog theme” to my actual blog name?
Also about the TAGS on the left sidebar, i dont want those there. How do i either remove them or move them elsewhere?
Missy.
February 11th, 2008 at 12:16 am
@m38967 – Hi, to change “Blog Theme” you will need to edit the graphic file taht you can find in your folder (wp-content/themes/fourWPTPv2/images/logo_placement.gif).
As for the tags..are u using widgets?
February 14th, 2008 at 7:05 am
Need help, how could I align my post images left, right, middle whenever I choose “none” in the Global Image Alignment in the Configuration?
March 4th, 2008 at 7:40 am
Hi Moses,
This is a very brilliant theme! I’ve been fixing up my site since last week and everything was sweet. Until lately, I noticed that the sidebars were down just like many others.
I tried to do the fix you said on the comments.php file and here’s where I put the code…
**************************************************
Need To Resubmit Your Comments
comment_status) : ?>
*******************************************************************
I’m not sure if this is right but I think it’s still not working. Although, what I realised was it shows nicely on the latest browsers but I think on older versions (of browsers) is when the sidebar collapses.
Have you got any other ideas on how I can fix this?
Thanks again. I really think this is an awesome theme…
By the way, if you want to see my site here it is:

Now unfortunately i am having some troubles with this template… when I go to the widgets tab in admin i see 2 columns but any widgets that i put in the right column are showing up on the frontend ‘both right columns’ then anything I put in the left column is showing up in the mini left column on frontend… how do i remove the mini left column on frontend? and how do i get the right 2 columns to play nice. ? much appreciated for your great work and your help. thanks

thatnyc – This theme’s right columns are widgetize, however the left “mini column” is not widgetize.
To edit the left sidebar you will need to find the mini_sidebar.php and edit it.

ok great thanks.
would you mind telling us what to do to the mini_sidebar.php to make it go away? can we just remove the file?
I noticed there were 3 or 4 others asking about this so it would be great if you could share.
P.S. do you do custom work? and customizations? on contract?

Hmmm this theme is not working well for me. when i put a widget in the right column it shows up in both right columns… when i put it in left column it shows up below the posts… body area.
maybe i should just try a different template? see the issues at http://www.RichAgent.com

I used this the at my blog, Streamxy.com, it’s a great themes. But, there is so many redundant functionality. I guess give more to get more. Some of it, I had to amend. Great job man. Cool.

Hello:
I’ve talked to Moses a bit about this already, but if Richie is the coder, I’ll leave it for both of your reference:
I’ve discovered that 2 plugins wont work with this theme – those being TinyMCEComments and ReCAPTCHA.
I also had a question. When people are leaving comments, an avatar pops up – a guy with dark glasses – and it’s the same for everyone who posts. I guess my question is what can I do to disable that, or if I’m going to have avatars, what plugin would you recommend to use?

For people asking about the SIDEBAR ISSUE, I just changed the number in the 3rd line of mini_sidebar file to 3 and works, here it the code:
Before it was set to one which was confusing with right sidebar one
Hope it helps.
And THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT THEME
