Google embeddable maps coming up next week

Bloggers rejoice! especially if your a blogger that likes to embed stuff (think YouTube Videos) in your blog because from next week onwards Google will be rolling out their new service that will allow you to embed a map in your posts as simple as cutting and pasting a bit of HTML code into your blog, just like a YouTube video via Google Maps.

To embed a Google Map, you pull up the map you want to embed–it can be a location, a business, series of driving directions, or a My Map you’ve created–and then click “Link to this page” and copy and paste the HTML into your website or blog. The embedded map will be fully interactive–you can drag and click or zoom in on a location, and view it in map, satellite, and hybrid modes.

Of course this was available for some time now especially if your a programmer as you could have made use of the Google Maps application programming interface (API), but now it’s easier to do, as easy as copy and paste!.

I am constantly amazed by Googles inventions. Everytime something clever comes up they will buy it and make it better.

I can see how adding maps can be a great feature for many people and especially travel blogs or personal blogs.

Yes, indeed it will be a great feature for a small community blog too..as the maps are editable.
