Do you remember the very first day you layed your eyes on WordPress? I remember my encounter vividly.
I started a my internet adventure very late in life, in late 2004 to be more exact.Google’s Blogger was the first ever personal publishing tool i used and after signing up on some forums and knowing a little bit more of how all this stuff works i began to move away from Blogger and found myself heavily dabbling with Mambo CMS, i liked it very much, so much in fact that i was once the owner of the domain name mambofans.com.I installed Mambo via fantastico on every domain i had just for the fun of it,modules, components, themes i had a whole bunch of them of my hardrive, i even joined all those premium clubs that had premium themes and components etc.
WordPress
But something happened along the way, in fact two things happened.First Mambo ran into some problems which i’m not interested in dicussing now, but that gave birth to Joomla CMS which by the way is one really cool CMS.
Secondly there was the release of WordPress “Stray Horn” which looked a little better than the previous ones i’ve seen, so i began to read more, installed it on a few domains, played with plugins and themes and i was absolutely love struck.
WordPress had me really hooked on it and i found myself really really pleased with it’s performance, it’s simplicity yet powerful, it’s clean admin panel, it’s super duper easy installation process, it’s SEO friendly features.
I also found out that WordPress has a community of dedicated people who time upon time produce great looking themes, usefull plugins and more, most of their hard work released to the community for free.
I salute those theme designers/coders and plugin authors who has made WP what it is today, and with the release of the 2.1 branch i can only see good things ahead for WP.
How about you? how did you begin your WordPress journey?

LOL, I don’t remember how I first knew about WordPress.
But I remember that I was using MT at the time and WordPress 1.2 was really difficult to modify and customise according to the theme you like. So I was discouraging people from using WordPress and encouraging them to use MT. Soon after, MT changed its licencing, the free version was hit with a slew of spam comments which was out of control and I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to end the nightmare. Then WordPress 1.5 was released and after a few weeks of gauging feedback from it, I promptly switched from MT to WordPress. And I have been a WP fanatic ever since.
Now I am encouraging everyone to dump MT and use WP instead. ROTFL.
