There’s tons of info available on the net that teaches us to make money online, some would say that affiliate marketing is the way to go, some would argue that building a blog with quality content is the better way, and let’s not even get into selling digital products, photos and more.
The truth is all these ways have their pros and cons and all are well able to make you some cool cash, and another way to make money online is through Public Domain Materials.
What is Public Domain?
Public domain comprises the body of knowledge and innovation (especially creative works such as writing, art, music, and inventions) in relation to which no person or other legal entity can establish or maintain proprietary interests within a particular legal jurisdiction. This body of information and creativity is considered to be part of a common cultural and intellectual heritage, which, in general, anyone may use or exploit, whether for commercial or non-commercial purposes. About 15 percent of all books are in the public domain, including 10 percent of all books that are still in print.
(derived from Wikipedia)
Making money from Public Domain Materials could be a profitable home business, and here are some ideas to begin with:
* Selling Images/photos
* Use Government Forms and Documents as a Foundation for Your Own Ebook
Governments collect and collate so much of data it’s incredible. And most of that is available for free. Either use that data as is, extract useful bits, combine it with other free stuff to leverage its usefulness, or offer a unique insight/review.
* Compile stories and poems or even audio and sell for a profit
The ideas listed above is just the tip of the iceberg, here is a good list of where you will be able to find public domain materials.
Hopefully with the list above you will be able to take some initiative and start making some money, it’s still a relatively new niche for most people and if you implement your ideas now you would stand a strong chance of making money with Public Domain Materials.
All the best!

My Daily Chronicles of the American Civil War publishes public domain material from the time of the civil war every day. I’ve been doing this since January 1, 2005, though much of the earlier material is on another blog that I’m not updating and I’ve been using WordPress since day 1.
