Following on from our posts that feature WordPress plugins, we have found some more that we thought would be of use to you. As before, we have featured a few of these in previous posts, but to miss them out from this particular article would leave it imbalanced and not as informative as it could be.
As with all plugins, they work best if you can choose them with some care, as some seem appealing on the surface, but they will not add much to your blog, and can in some cases, slow down loading times.
First to be shown are multi-site plugins. These we feel are some of the best.
Bookmark me. This plugin is useful if you require bookmarking on international sites. It supports German, Dutch, and Lithuanian among others.
Bookmarkify plugin. This plugin puts square icons at the bottom of your posts to allow bookmarking of other social media sites. Over fifty are supported by this plugin.
I love social bookmarking plugin. This plugin has a certain cleverness about it, as not only does it do the normal stuff when it comes to bookmarking, it also puts all the bookmarks into a drop down menu to keep page load times nice and quick.
iBegin Share. This plugin allows posts to be saved as a Word.doc file or PDF. It also does the usual wizardry with bookmarking.
obsocialbookmarker plugin allows you to add buttons for social sites such as digg and stumbleupon.
pingpressFM. You can use this plugin to communicate to ping.fm, so that it can update the social networks that it is connected to.
Sharethis. This plugin makes it easy to add the sharethis icon to your blog. This gives readers the ability to share your blog on social sites, or email them to their friends should they wish to. So make sure you write good posts.
Sociable. This plugin allows you to add color to your blog, by adding colorful social bookmarking buttons to the bottom of your posts. If you activated all of them, it would give a psychedelic effect as seen in the 1960s. Purple Haze man.
Social Bookmarking Reloaded plugin. Available in English or Italian, this plugin allows you to add social bookmarking buttons to your pages and posts.
Social Bookmarks. Allows many kinds of buttons for social bookmarking, including all the popular and not so popular ones.
Social Dropdown. As you have probably guessed, this plugin allows drop down menus for the most popular social networking sites.
SociBook. You can simply add social networking sites to your blog, by clicking on the name of the ones you want. That simple.
SociFluid. This plugin could be for you if you feel that social bookmarking buttons tend to get in the way of a blog. It keeps the buttons small until a reader holds a mouse over it. Then ScoiFluid swings into action and enlarges it.
WP-punchcard. By using this plugin, you can add up to forty social networking sites in a small an area as possible on your blog posts. Handy if you do not want the social buttons dominating everything about your blog.
These plugins will enhance your blog as long as you choose them with some thought. Many of them do tend to do much the same thing to one degree or another, so it is probably best to experiment with a few so you get the ones that are right for your blog.
Plugins make all the difference to WordPress, and good careful choices will give it that touch of quality. So good luck, and get writing.
