The time of a blogger is very limited and must be used wisely. One of the problem most bloggers face that can waste their time is dealing with spam on their blogs, this post will be talking about some ways you can overcome spam on your wordpress blog.
1. Install A Spam Filter: One of the best and most effective ways to overcome spam on your blog is by installing a spam filter on your blog.
It is very important to know which type of spam filter you install because I have installed a spam filter that eventually began to mark real comments as spam.
2. Moderate Comments: I personally don’t use this method and I don’t recommend it but it can be very useful if all methods you try no longer works.
Another great thing you can do to prevent spam on your wordpress blog is by moderating comments, this gives you the opportunity to see every comment before it goes live which means there will be no questionable comment on your blog.
3. Disable Trackbacks: Spammers are now using this method to propagate their spam messages.
One of the best way to prevent receiving all these annoying spam trackbacks is by disabling it. I have personally disabled trackbacks on my blog and I am now dealing with less comments.
4. Disable Comments: Sometimes, the worse might come to worse and you might not have any other choice than disabling comments completely on your blog.
This is not recommended because some readers do not like it but if you are getting too much spam comments the best thing to do is disable comments completely.
I have faced a lot of spam myself and I get hundreds of it everyday, the above methods are what I use and they are all very useful and effective in combating spam.
