You really ought to have a look at the Revolution WordPress theme by Brian Gardner, this theme is really well suited for a corporate blog or a magazine type of site.I always believe that many things can be achieved with WordPress as it is so tweakable and it is indeed moving towards being more of a Content Management System (CMS) rather than just a blog script.
