One of the appeals of blogging, is that it gives you the chance to make money while telling the world of your genius, or the great product or feature that you write about on your blog. You probably have at least heard about Google Adsense, but there are other types of advertising with different companies other than Google that you may want to consider.
So let’s take a look at the most popular advertising companies, starting with the trusted Google Adsense.
Google Adsense is the biggest ad company of its kind on the web. It has more companies to chose from when placing its ads. You may feel the phrase “placing the ads”, is a little strange, but that in reality as what it does. You tell Adsense where you want the ads, and what kind of ads you want on your site, and then Google places the ads on your website. So you never have to actually carry out any maintenance to the site other than putting the Adsense code on it in the first place.
There are additional options to chose from, such as having content related ads on the site, so if your blog is about skiing for example, then those kind of ads pull through. You can also eliminate certain niches. So if you do not want certain products advertised on the site, then you do not have to have them.
Traditionally, financial ads get the most click throughs: Debt consolidation, mortgages, credit cards, insurance, and so no and fourth. The trick with Adsense is experimentation. As you probably know, Adsense is a pay per click advertising company. So the more clicks, the more money you receive.
Clickbank, on the other hand, works from sales revenue. They normally sell e-books and other digital products, and for every sale that is generated from your website, you earn a percentage from it. Sometimes this can be as high as 75%, which obviously means you can make money using Clickbank, and potentially more money than with Google Adsense.
Commission Junction and Linkshare are two companies which promote affiliate advertising on your blog. This is where companies place a link to their sites, and pay you per click. As both Commission Junction and Linkshare, have some very well renowned brands on their books: Apple, Walmart, HP, Weight Watchers, HP, and so on and so fourth, there is not only a strong possibility of a click, but your website is affiliated to an established brand, which does your reputation no harm at all.
There is plenty of testing involved however, to find the right kind of products or ads to promote, but once you have nailed it, then this can be a very lucrative way to make money from your blog.
If you are planning to go for this route, then it is a good idea to sign up to both Linkshare and Commission Junction, to maximise your revenue potential.
Amazon Associates and eBay Partner Networks (EPN)
This is where the two companies sell products from the sites on your blog. As you know these sites offer two of the biggest market places on the web, and as the ads you can create are fully customizable, so choosing the right product or ad for your blog is relatively straight forward.
It can also happen pretty fast too. In about an hour, you can setup an estore from Amazon, and have it stocked with products related from your blog.
Both Amazon and eBay are quite selective about which sites get accepted to the program, so there is a possibility you could be turned down. However, should you chose to try this method of advertising and you are accepted, it is possible to make a fair amount of money.
When choosing an ad company, be careful to read very carefully any stipulations the ad company makes about using their ads, and remember, it is not all about Adsense you know.
